Our fun, friendly jogging groups are perfect for people who want to get active for the first time. Our sessions are sociable, safe and provide a supportive environment for exercise. This means that the more experienced runner can enjoy our groups too. Everyone is welcome. Come and join Jolly Joggers. There is nobody who is “too slow” or “too experienced”.
For those of you who want to run but not in a competitive way, joining a running group can be an enjoyable route to improving your fitness and having fun. Jolly Joggers is part of jogscotland, Scotland’s very own jogging network which uses simple walk/jog/run programmes to encourage everyone to get out and be fit and active.
Jolly Joggers was originally set up as a way to prepare for the Armadale Run 4 Fun event as part of the Armadale Together for Health campaign. We kept the group going after this as we received great feedback.
It’s not just about the running though. We describe it as ‘free therapy’ because you are able to discuss anything with other members and always feel better after doing so.
The group is open to men and women. There are around 25-30 members and the levels are very varied. We have some members who are preparing for half marathons, whilst others are getting ready to do a 5k.
We are keen to see the group expand and encourage anyone reading to get in contact: We’re tying to foster an environment where people feel welcome. Our groups aren’t overly serious. There is no need to feel intimidated if you’ve never run before.
We currently have sessions in Armadale, Bathgate and Fauldhouse.
